Your family’s data, in plain English.

Sparcademy is built by people who think a kids’ learning product should collect as little as possible and be able to explain all of it in one page. This is that page. No legalese wall — just what we collect, why, and what we will never do.

Your child’s data

Everything we collect about a child

First name — so their dashboard can say hello. Never a last name.
Age band — so lessons land at the right level.
Interests — dinosaurs, dirt bikes, axolotls — so lessons are about what they love.
A 4-digit PIN — how they sign in. We store only a scrambled (hashed) version, never the PIN itself.
Learning activity — worksheets completed, answers and written work, time spent, and the progress that grows from it. This exists so you can see how they’re doing and export records your state accepts.

That’s the whole list. No email, no phone number, no address, no photos, no location, no birthdate — we never ask a child for contact information.

What we never do

No third-party trackers on your child’s screens. The student side of Sparcademy loads no outside analytics, ad pixels, or social widgets.
We never sell data. Not your child’s, not yours, not “anonymized,” not ever.
No ads. You pay for Sparcademy with money, so your family is the customer — never the product.
No child accounts without a parent. Only a signed-in parent can create a child profile; kids can’t sign up on their own.

Consent, control, and deletion

You, the parent, create every child profile and choose what goes in it. You can see everything your child does on Sparcademy from your dashboard, edit their profile at any time, and delete it whenever you want. To delete a child’s profile — or your whole family account and everything in it — email hello@sparcademy.com from your account email and we’ll take care of it. You can also request a copy of your family’s data the same way.

We designed Sparcademy around the principles of COPPA, the U.S. law protecting children’s privacy online: collect the minimum, get the parent’s consent first, and keep the parent in control. We don’t claim any third-party privacy certification or seal — we’d rather just show you the whole list above and let you judge it.

What we collect about you

Account basics — your name, email, password (stored hashed), and family name.
Billing — handled by Stripe, our payment processor. Your card number goes to Stripe, not to us; we see only what’s needed to run your subscription.
Product usage — which features you use, so we can make the product better. On parent-facing pages we use Google Analytics; on your child’s pages we do not.

Who touches the data

We use a small set of service providers to run Sparcademy, each only for its job:

Supabase — our database and sign-in system, where your family’s data lives, encrypted in transit and at rest.
Anthropic — the AI that generates lessons. Requests include what’s needed to make a good lesson (like the interest theme and level) — never your child’s contact details, because we don’t have any.
Stripe — payments.
Resend — the emails we send you (receipts, account notices). We never email children.
Vercel — hosting.

None of these providers may use your family’s data for their own purposes. If the law ever requires us to disclose data, we’ll tell you unless we’re legally barred from doing so.

How long we keep things

We keep your family’s data while your account exists, because learning records are the product — many states expect you to keep them. When you delete a child profile or your account, we delete the data; short-lived backups age out on their own after that. If we ever make a meaningful change to this policy, we’ll email you before it takes effect.
